The Importance of a Daily routine

The Importance of a daily routine

What is a Daily Routine?

Having a daily routine is essential for leading a healthy and productive life. It helps to structure your day and make sure that you are able to complete all the tasks that need to be done. A daily routine can help you stay organized, be more productive, and even improve your mental health. It also gives you a sense of control over your life and can help you set achievable goals. Having a daily routine can also provide structure in times of uncertainty or stress, which is especially important during these trying times. In this article, we will discuss why having a daily routine is important for health, what it should include, and how to create one that works best for you.

Do you have a Daily Routine?

Skin health is an essential part of overall health and wellness. It is important to take care of your skin, and a Daily Routine helps to prevent and treat wrinkles, acne, sunburn, chap, dryness, itchy skin, fine lines and skin blemishes. Proper skin care can also help unclog pores and reduce the appearance of age spots. Taking good care of your skin can help you look younger and feel healthy for longer.

Let me help you get started with one, if you don’t already have a Daily Routine. Send me a message, email, or text and I will discuss your needs and give you recommendations for products that will help with the issue you are having. If I can’t make it, I will tell you what brands I trust and which products will benefit you the most while remaining cost effective.

An example of a healthy Daily Routine:

I want to talk to you about my Daily Routine. Yours doesn’t have to look like this. Morning and night I do the same dental and skin care routine. It helps keep my skin blemish free, and treats any dry spots before they form. I used to have a problem with acne and dry patches, but once I started taking appropriate care of my skin, it started taking care of me back. I will walk you through every step of my self care program, from beginning to end.

Hair care is a different matter, and we can talk more about that another time.

Oral Hygiene

First, I use mouth rinse. I have a sensitive tooth. I like Listerine Sensitivity. It helps tremendously with my sensitive tooth. Using it once a day completely eased the sensitivity in my tooth. I no longer have a sensitive tooth! So long as I use this mouth rinse, the nerve that reacted to cold or heat is numbed by the mouth wash. It has potassium nitrate mineral that works to desensitize the nerve deep within the dentine tubule and provide sensitivity relief and help protect against it.

Next, I floss. I use Plackers Flossers Ecochoice with the recycled plastic handle. Most of the plastic we use doesn’t get recycled, even if we put it in the correct bin. Using a recycled plastic disposable flosser makes me feel a little bit better about it. Waxed floss is great too, and honestly cleans between your teeth better than a Placker Flosser can, but I just dislike doing it that way. If the difference between flossing and not flossing is using a Placker, then I think it would be better to continue to use them.

Timing is everything

I brush my teeth for two full minutes. I use an electric toothbrush with a built in timer. That is the only way I will actually use one for two minutes! Mine automatically turns off after two minutes of use, like most of them do. There are many inexpensive electric toothbrushes available. Mine has replaceable heads, and it tells me when the brush needs to be changed. Even if you don’t invest in a fancy toothbrush, you can still time yourself using your phone. There is a timer in the alarm clock app you can use. It is easy enough to do. Sometimes I use it to time how long I am using my mouth rinse if my sensitive tooth is acting up. Using the mouth rinse for longer will help prevent pain from sensitivity.

Facial Care

After brushing, if I don’t shower, I use a facial cleansing cloth and wash my face. This one step has helped clear up blemishes more than any other. Even though I don’t often wear makeup, I still use a make up removal wipe or cleansing cloth every day. It keeps my pores from getting clogged.

Then I apply Facial Toner to any spots that look like they could turn into acne, on any blackheads I wish to go away, or to any active acne I have. The Salicylic Acid it contains kills acne causing bacteria and the witch hazel will help dissolve dirt. I use a cotton swab to apply it, but you could do so with a cotton ball, a make up remover pad or simply apply a few drops of it to your cleansing clothe when you use it! Sometimes, because I have just washed my face anyhow, I just apply a drop or two directly to my face. The concentrated formula goes to work right away, healing up any acne I might have.

Facial Oil

When my face is still damp from cleaning it, I apply my facial oil. The difference between a cream and an oil is the amount of wax and emulsifiers used to allow the oils to cream with water. My oil has the same ingredients as a high end night cream, without the wax and water. Applying it to damp, freshly cleaned skin will allow your skin to retain moisture. It will reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles by keeping your skin fully healed and moisturized. A few drops applied gently with your finger tips is all that it takes. You can take special care of any sensitive spots you have that might suffer from acne or dry skin, and just rub it into your skin. Afterward you are free to apply makeup, beard balm or any other grooming routine you already have in place.

Lip Balm can prevent sunburn

Lastly, I apply lip balm. My lips are prone to chap and dryness, which I find to be distracting. Keeping my mouth from feeling “weird” helps me stay focused on my work, and my play! I start and finish every day with my 24K Gold Night Therapy Lip Masque. It contains the maximum amount of shea butter that I can squeeze into a recipe, and it really works to keep my lips looking and feeling their best. Best of all, it is noncomedogenic which means it will never clog pores or cause acne. I always carry one around with me so that if I have an extra dry patch I can always spot treat any part of my skin that doesn’t feel great and it is easier to keep with me than a tub of lotion.

Skin Care

If I have any dry spots anywhere on my body, I take the opportunity to apply Buttercream Lotion or Body Balm to the area before I begin or end my day. Spot treating eczema or dry zones helps keep them from spreading. Remembering to apply a simple over the counter lotion at least once a day can help prevent the need to see the doctor for my eczema. Anytime I can avoid using a prescription, I like to.

Always remember to use a good hand cream all year long. Hydrated skin will help your nails grow faster, keep your cuticles stronger and help prevent chap or dryness. Healthy skin is harder to crack, it won’t get papercuts as easily, and your cuticles won’t be as prone to peeling or cracking. If you like to paint your nails, keeping them appropriately moisturized will help protect the skin around your nails, too. It also helps with the hang nails I used to get! Keeping my skin moisturized keeps my nails healthy and strong.

I like to use a foot soak to keep the skin on the bottom of my feet from getting calloused or thickening. The citric acid in my foot soak bombs will help remove any dry skin, and keep your feet feeling soft. Using a foot soak can help reduce and prevent athlete’s foot, ease gout, treat toenail fungus and soothe aches and pains.

After bathing or soaking I always apply a skin protectant, or skin balm on any dry areas I have, especially my heels and elbows. I always apply moisturizer right out of the shower. Applying lotion to already fully hydrated skin can keep it healthy and help it retain moisture which will help you avoid that dry, itchy feeling. Using a balm or sealant will keep your skin safe all winter long. It can even prevent sunburn. Dry skin burns or chaps faster than moisturized skin will.

Is your soap drying your skin out?

Goat milk soap is a gentle cleanser rich in fatty acids that can help support a healthy skin barrier to keep skin nourished and moisturized. Did you know? Most shower gels aren’t considered soap. According to the FDA, they are classified as cleansers and synthetic detergent products. My Goat Milk Soap won’t dry your skin out like some commercial cleansers will. It is made with real goat’s milk and it is detergent free.
