This is a soft lip butter, extremely emollient and sealing. It helps heal winter chapped lips and it’s even great on your cuticles to help your nails grow.
Made using all-natural shea butter from Ghana. In Africa, Shea Butter is called women’s gold. Women collect the nuts from the karité tree as they fall. To start with, they remove the fruit from the outside and dry the nut, which looks a little bit like an avocado pit. hey sterilize the hard outer shell in fire, or by boiling it, next they then crack the nut and pull off the outer shell. Finally, they scrape the golden shea butter out of the inside of the shell, boil it and sell it. This allows women a source of income who might not otherwise be able to find one for their families, and because they are gaining independence they are able to live better, more fulfilled lives.
Shea butter comes from the Sahel region extending from West to East Africa, from Guinea and Senegal to Uganda and South Sudan. For centuries shea butter has been called “women’s gold” not only for its rich golden color (although shea butter can also sport a deep ivory hue, depending on the region) but also because it primarily provides employment and income to millions of women across the continent. Shea butter is non-toxic and edible, and can be used in cooking, but it is mostly used for cosmetic purposes. The UN has more to say about it here.
It is estimated that the L’Oreal buys 25% of all of the shea produced in Western Africa! It is so desirable as a cosmetic ingredient that it is empowering women to seek better wages and equally fair trade. Millions of African families are supported by the shea butter trade, and especially the shea butter I purchase directly impacts a small, woman owned business.

To reuse this container:
Simply melt 2 teaspoons of coconut oil and pour into the clean & empty tube. You can apply this directly to your lips. Coconut oil makes a great DIY lip moisturizer.
Ingredients: 24% Shea Butter, Coconut Oil, Grapeseed oil, Castor Oil, Rose Hip Seed Oil, Aquaphor, less bees wax, and flavoring oils. Sweetened with liquid Stevia.
