The Founder
My name is Sarah, and I am 40 years old. I have been married to my husband Tom since 2003. I have one son, Preston, who was born in 2007. We have two dogs, two cats, two frogs, a hedgehog, and a bunch of fish. My hobbies include reading, writing, horticulture, and art. I am a sensitive and creative soul, trying my best to leave here a better place than I found it.
I have spent my adulthood learning better ways to treat my skin and hair. The struggle has been lifelong to keep my hair healthy, without frizz or breakages. I’ve always grown my hair out because the length helps me manage my curliness and hair texture.
Finding products that fit my lifestyle & budget was not possible. I have always been at war with sensitive, itchy skin. Due to my autoimmune condition, I am photosensitive, and I can break out in prickling hives only from being exposed to sunlight. Winter leaves my skin feeling tight and dry. Bathing with gentle soaps and using soothing oils are the only thing that helps me combat these symptoms. I know other people have the same problems that I do with their skin, so I want to offer something to help others feel better, like I do.
There are so many dyes and fragrances that I am allergic to, I have always been very limited in what soaps, bubble baths, bath bombs and detergents I can use and that lead me down the path of learning how to make bath products starting in 2004.
That’s why I began to research what makes hair or skin care products great.
In 2008 I began making oils with my infant son in mind. My baby was born with sensitive skin and eczema. It was an impossible task to find skin care products that worked for him. He was sensitive to so many things, and almost every label I read had a paragraph of ingredients. It was difficult to narrow down what was causing him to have skin irritations. That was when I doubled down and researched skin care in earnest. I had to find a way to keep my baby’s skin moisturized without causing him to itch or have a painful reaction to unnecessary ingredients.
Since then, I have exacted the science of treating my sensitive skin the way it deserves to be treated. With research, I learned a lot about how oils and other ingredients work on a molecular level. Over time, I learned how to combine ingredients to provide me with a low maintenance hair care schedule that is both affordable and helps me feel pretty. It was my goal to accomplish this with as few ingredients as possible.
When I spoke with my friends about my search for the best hair and skin care products, I learned that this is a common problem. Products are over marketed and underexplained. It is difficult to understand what we need to keep our hair and skin healthy. And why it works.
Now I am happy and blessed to pass that knowledge and experience on to you.
My hope is that it helps you too.
